Summary
Hand sewn silk coat to a suit, woven with dark purple. Blue and ivory vertical stripe. Standup collar, skirt cut sloping to three vents and pleats at back, two hip pockets flapped. Made in France or England circa 1780. Hand written note by Lady Berwick, 'Man's 18th cent. costume pale blue French'. Unaltered, worn and probably used as fancy dress at a later date.
