Summary
Two brocade curtains. Blue silk warp; ivory; gold; three shades of pink; dark red; yellow/green silk wefts; warp faced satin ground, weft brocaded motif. Loom width 1230 mm (48'). Four strand cable cord, two blue silk, one pink and ivory, one gold and ivory on cotton core. Six linings - see ATT/T(Gill Medland Cat)/014. Hand and machine sewn; interlined and lined throughout; sewn almost flat to linen heading band 30 mm, 40 mm from top, three hooks and pins; two rings. Edged with cord on three sides. Repeat 1335 mm drop straight, two motifs x loom width 1230 mm (48'). Floral. Bouquets and baskets of flowers within garlands with ribbons and arrows. Flowers include roses, tulips, honeysuckle, pinks/carnations. as ATT/T/014/A-B. a) cream cotton unbalanced plain weave (on b). b) cream cotton balanced plain weave (on a). c) cream silk plain weave. d). cream silk plain weave with slub. e) interlining, undyed wool unbalanced plain weave. English manufacture circa 1860.
