Summary description
Oil painting on canvas, William Pitt the younger MP (1759-1806) studio of, or after John Hoppner RA (London 1758 – London 1810), circa 1850. A three-quarter-length portrait, facing, head turned slightly to left, wearing a dark suit with white cravat, right hand in pocket with the other resting on a backrest of a chair; curtain drapery in background to right. A later copy of the original.

Attingham collection. 1847 Catalogue of Paintings p.6; 1861 Inventory p.211. 'Heirloom' 1947 Probate Valuation no.105; bequeathed to the National Trust with the estate, house and contents of Attingham by Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick (1877-1947) on 15th May 1953.
