Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Margaret Hill, Mrs Thomas Harwood (d.1734), British (English) School, c.1685/90. A painted oval half-length portrait of Margaret Hill, Mrs Harwood, almost facing, wearing a brown dress with white frill and pendant pearl. Margaret Hill (d.1734) was the daughter of Rowland Hill of Hawkstone (d.1700) and Margaret Whitehall. She married Thomas Harwood (1661-1738) of Tern, a Shrewsbury draper. Their son, Thomas Harwood (1693-1782) assumed the surname of Hill on inheriting property from his uncle Thomas Hill, and married: (1)in 1723, Anne Powys (d.1793), and (2)in 1740, Susanna Maria Noel (d.1760), daughter of Sir William Noel. Their son, Noel Hill became the 1st Lord Berwick (1745-1789)

Attingham collection. 1913 Inventory p.85; bequeathed to the National Trust with the estate, house and contents of Attingham by Thomas Henry Noel-Hill, 8th Baron Berwick (1877-1947) on 15th May 1953.
