Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Bridget Phelips, Lady Napier (1707-1758), attributed to Bartholomew Dandridge (1691–c.1754), 1731. A painted oval portrait of a young woman, half-length turned to left, gazing at spectator. Her dark hair is dressed on top with ringlets falling on both shoulders, she wears a blue wrap-around dress over a white chemise, sleeves gathered up to her elbows with a pearl button.
Provenance
On loan from the Phelips family since 1931; purchased with the aid of the National Heritage Memorial Fund and the V&A Museums and Galleries Commission Purchase Grant Fund in 1989.
