Summary
Pair of dishes, porcelain, of saucer-shape, made in Arita kilns, possibly Nangawara, Hizen, Japan, c. 1680-1700; decorated with underglaze cobalt blue and overglaze polychrome (Kakiemon-style palette) enamels, painted in the centre with a mountainous riverscape, within a double line border, the rim painted with a continuous scene of rocks with flowering pomegranate, chrysanthemum, an unidentified flower and water forget-me-not, details in colour, the underside with a continuous flower and leaf scroll.
