Similar bottles were among the cargo of the wrecked Ca Mau, a vessel lost off the Vietnamese southern coast, around 1725, but they are also found on earlier shipwrecks, such as the Hatcher cargo, of 1643-46. These novelty items in Europe were popular as dollshouse furnishing, but also as inexpensive items to furnish interiors in massed displays.
