Bowl, porcelain, made in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi province, China, c. 1740; decorated in underglaze cobalt blue, iron-red enamels and gold (Chinese Imari palette), painted with the tail feathers and claws of a phoenix and blossoming plum branches overlapping the rim onto the exterior, brown iron oxide dressed rim.
