Summary
Oil painting on plaster, King Charles II (1630-1685) (Fragment) by Antonio Verrio (Lecce c.1639 – Hampton Court Palace 1707), 1678. A head-and-shoulders portrait, of Charles II looking over his left shoulder, wearing state robes and a crown, a part of his left arm is visible, as if outstretched. This fragment comes from the King's Withdrawing Room ceiling at Windsor Castle, the full composition represented the Restoration of Charles II. The room disappeared during the remodelling of Windsor Castle for George IV by Sir Jeffrey Wyatville in 1824/25.
