Summary
Black painted papier mache circular box with push-on lid, decorated with inlaid silver plated pewter. Symmetrical design of a cross composed of circles combined with cross composed of stylised foliage and smaller circles. Box has Scotia sides and pewter rims. Handwritten note, inscribed: 'Clean with slight abrasive in Gumption and Vim cost ? Leaden pewter inlay already worn'.

An item from the Pamela Ward Collection, left to the National Trust in the will of Miss Ward in 1994.
