Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Judge John II Johnes (1800 - 1876) of Dolaucothi, Co Cardiganshire by Thomas Brigstock (Carmarthen 1809 - London 1881) circa 1820/30. A half-length portrait of a young man, facing, head turned slightly to the right, gazing to the right, short brown hair and long sideburns, wearing a dark brown coat with black velvet collar, white high-collared shirt and black stock, under a dark brown cloak with fur collar and crimson lining which is draped over both shoulders and wrapped across his cheld with a gold chain fastening and held by his left hand. Yellow drape hung from right to left and cloudy sky seen on the right.

Gifted to the National Trust in March 1944 by Reverend Herbert Thomas Charles Lloyd-Johnes.
