Summary
White marble fireplace surround features flat mantlepiece with cornice design. Central frieze depicts a shepherd, dog and eight sheep in a rural setting with tree and small house in the distance. This is flanked by two carved floral swags, agapanthus detail at each end with a garland carved on each side post. Scalloped carving to centre. Raised marble five sided hearth surround. Surrounded by a gilt wooden rail – that extends from the skirting board. Black and white marble hearth with brown and gold cylindrical pattern. Features two metal stands. Two red and white ceramic tiles surrounding the fire. Main section is white, lined with a gold edge and red border featuring the Lucy fish and crosses. Black metal fire grate in-built containing logs with a plain black fire back. Four-sided flat metal tray.

Presented to the National Trust by Sir Montgomerie Fairfax-Lucy (1896 – 1965), two years after the death of his father, Sir Henry Ramsay-Fairfax, 3rd Bt (1870 – 1944), with Charlecote Park and its chief contents, in 1946.
