Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Margaret Spencer, Mrs Robert Lucy, later Lady Arundell of Wardour (d.1704), British (English) School, circa 1654. A half-length portrait of Margaret Spencer, she is standing to the right with a direct gaze with the spectator. She is wearing a pale blue dress embroidered with gold which features a large collar and large white cuffs. She is holding a bunch of grapes in her left hand. Her long dark hair in ringlets and she wears a necklace and drop earrings. In the background there is a brown curtain to the right and a column behind her on the left with blue sky and clouds. In a rectangular gilt frame. Margaret Spencer was the daughter of Robert Spencer of Upton, married (i) Robert Lucy of Charlecote in 1654 and (ii) Thomas, 4th Lord Arundell of Wardour.

Presented to the National Trust by Sir Montgomerie Fairfax-Lucy (1896 – 1965), two years after the death of his father, Sir Henry Ramsay-Fairfax, 3rd Bt (1870 – 1944), with Charlecote Park and its chief contents, in 1946
