Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Sir William Underhill of Ildicote (1624 - 1710), British (English) School, circa 1680. An oval half-length portrait of Sir William Underhill of Idicote. He is positioned to the left with direct gaze at the spectator. He is wearing a breastplate, jabot and gold embroidered sleeves. He has dark shoulder length hair. Sir William Underhill of Ildicote (1624 - 1710) married Alice fourth daughter of Sir Thomas Lucy III. This picture was left by Samuel Underhill to George Lucy in 1762;
Provenance
Presented to the National Trust by Sir Montgomerie Fairfax-Lucy (1896 – 1965), two years after the death of his father, Sir Henry Ramsay-Fairfax, 3rd Bt (1870 – 1944), with Charlecote Park and its chief contents, in 1946.
