Summary
Oil painting on canvas, The Reverend John Lucy (1790-1874), British School, circa 1856. A half-length portrait of the Reverend John Lucy, he is positioned slightly to the left with a direct gaze with the spectator. He is wearing a black coat over a white shirt. His right hand is positioned within his coat. In large, carved giltwood frame. Reverend John Lucy was the Rector of Hampton Lucy and Vicar of Charlecote. He helped rebuild Hampton Lucy church. He was the younger brother of George Hammond Lucy.
Provenance
Presented to the National Trust by Sir Montgomerie Fairfax-Lucy (1896 – 1965), two years after the death of his father, Sir Henry Ramsay-Fairfax, 3rd Bt (1870 – 1944), with Charlecote Park and its chief contents, in 1946.
