One of a set of two Hepplewhite-style country chairs, circa 1790. With fixed seat in dark red horsehair cloth with gimp edge. With arched top rail, the pierced back splat of stylised wheat sheaf form, flanked by shaped uprights with incised moulding. On square-section tapering front legs joined to the rear splayed square-section legs with a H-stretcher, the rear legs joined by a single stretcher.
