Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Sounding the Rally, by A.S. Boult, signed lower centre. A trumpeter of the Life Guards in the centre foreground on a raised grassy mound, dressed in full uniform, riding a grey horse, turned to the left, blowing on a trumpet with a red embroidered banner hung from it, two cavalry at the far left, firing their rifles off to the left, two other riders just behind them galloping to the right; in the middle distance on the far right two other horsemen galloping to the right. Blue sky with clouds.
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust by Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966) with the house and the rest of the contents.
