French cavalry standing by mounts, the soldiers are dressed in blue tunics, scarlet trousers with a blue stripe down the side and blue shakos with black plumes; the two soldiers in the front, centre, are (?) smoking; cloudy sky with patches of blue; .

Bequeathed to the National Trust by Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966) with the house and the rest of the contents.
