Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Greyhounds and Horseman by Charles Towne (Wigan 1763 – Liverpool 1840), signed and dated 1828. Shrubby, sandy landscape, two pointers on left in foreground, three greyhounds, and two pointers in centre foreground, a horseman on the right, riding to spectator, a windmill in the centre, middle-distance, distant views of cottages and hills, blue sky with clouds.
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust by Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966) with the house and the rest of the contents.
