Summary
Oil painting on panel, Duck Shooting from a Punt by Samuel John Egbert Jones (fl.1820 – 1855).Landscape with a river winding through it, short trees which have been pollarded , on the bend of the river on the right is a punt in which one figure is rowing and the other shooting at some flying duck on the left, at the front of the punt sits a dog. In the foreground a white and tan dog is about to leap into the river over two ducks, one swimming the other just about to fly off. Extensive landscape with distant views and cloudy sky.
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust by Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966) with the house and the rest of the contents.
