Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Still Life with a Print of King Charles I and an Upturned Crown by Vincent Laurentsz. van der Vinne I (Haarlem 1628 - Haarlem 1702). Still-life – on a table covered in a green velvet cloth are a number of objects, including a print of Charles I held down on the table by a flute an upturned lute, or mandolin, and an upturned crown in which is a glass goblet containing a tulip and a peony, behind the crown is an open book and to the right of the book is a helmet with a red plume, at the back of the table is a globe, an inkwell and quill and some books. To the right of the painting is a blue silk cloth hanging in folds.. Label on frame gives dates as 1736-1811.
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust by Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966) with the house and the rest of the contents.
