Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Moonlit Lake with a Ruined Gothic Church, a Church, and Boatmen, by Sebastian Pether (1790 – Battersea 1844). A huge ruined gothic church stands on the banks of a lake at the right, below which a fisherman is preparing his boat; further along the river is another rowing boat with three figures; on the far shore, a church tower and steeple.
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust by Huttleston Rogers Broughton, 1st Lord Fairhaven (1896-1966) with the house and the rest of the contents.
