Oil painting on canvas, The Reverend Charles Francis Benthall (1861-1936) on holiday in Morocco, by Alethea Garstin (Penzance 1894 - Zennor 1978), circa 1925. A half-length portrait of a mature man, turned slightly to the right, seated at table by the Straits of Gibraltar, a servant standing behind him.
Provenance
Painted circa 1925. Included on page 3 of the Inventory of Items On Loan To The National Trust For Benthall Hall dated 1st October 1963. Bequeathed to the National Trust in the will of Michael Pickersgill Benthall (1919 – 1974). Accepted for ownership by The National Trust in 1975 following the death of Michael Pickersgill Benthall in 1974
