Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Peter Vansittart (1651-1705), British (English School), 1666. A three-quarter-length portrait, seated on a wooden chair with barley-twist supports and red cushion, turned to the right, gazing at the spectator, He has a long brown curled wig, and is wearing a full-length brown spotted gown with white shirt and cravat. He holds in his right hand a note, which has an address impossible to read upside down but ends in London. His left arm rests on the chair arm. Set in an interior, brown drapery behind and a framed painting/window ? with landscape to the right.
