A full-length portrait of an elderly man standing, tutrned slightly to the left, gazing at the spectator, with grey balding hair, wearing a dark green thigh-length jacket and breeches with white shirt and neckcloth, thigh-boots with spurs; leather belt hanger with sheath for short sword. He holds out a blood covered dagger in his right hand, the left grips a sword at his hip. The head shoulders and front paws of a large brown and white dog are visible at right. A stag lies to the left with its throat cut. Hilly landscape with a hunt taking place in the background, a tree on the right, and distant view with reddish cloudy sky.
