Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Peter Legh XII (1669-1744), British (English) School, early 18th century. A three-quarter-length portrait of a middle-aged man, seated, against a dark background, turned to the left, head facing right, gazing at the spectator, with long curled brown wig, wearing a long loose gold/buff silk robe, with full sleeves, three gold embroidered glasps down the front, white lace stock, white shirt and lace cuffs. His right hand rests, knuckles on his hip, he left arm rests on a table and he holds a piece of paper which falls into his lap.
