Oil painting on canvas, Mary, Queen of Scots (1542-1587) leaving Loch Leven on 2nd May 1568 by Edward Daniel Leahy (London 1797 – Brighton 1875), 1837. Mary, Queen of Scots, illicitly leaving Loch Leven on 2nd May 1568. The Queen is seen standing centre, with a waiting woman, against the castle wall. In the left foreground is a boat with two men and to the right, a kneeling man holding the hawser. In the right background, figures can be seen inside an arch.
