Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Colonel George William Blathwayt (1797 – 1871) by William Salter (Honiton 1804 – London 1875), signed and dated Wm SALTER M.A.F.1850. A three-quarter-length portrait, of the sitter shown standing, turned slightly to the right, wearing a brown coat and embroidered floral waistcoat. He holds his hat under his left arm, and rests his right hand on a stone ledge to the left, behind which hangs a red curtain. A landscape is visible to the right in the distance.

Indigenous collection purchased by the Ministry of Works in 1956 and given to Dyrham Park in 1961
