Summary
Portrait miniature, watercolour painting on ivory, Penelope Blathwayt, Mrs Jeremiah Pierce Crane (1755-1810). 1789. Oval. Head and shoulders portrait of a woman, turbned slightly to the right, gazing to the right, in a white frilly dress with ligh blue sash and bow. Dark blue eyes, powdered hair, pink complexion with delicate linear modelling, slightly smiling expression. Sky background. Sitting 7 July 1789. Copy of 29 August 1789. (This probably the ...........1995). Companion to reference DYR.MI.15. (Marked on card old no DYR.D.1). Inscribed on reverse - Penelope only daughter of William Blathwayt (grandson of the secretary and wife of Jeremiah Crane obit 1823. Her only son assumed the name of Blathwayt and succeeded his uncle at first....and held the estate during the life of his uncle's brother. 7.7.1789

Indigenous collection purchased by Ministry of Works in 1954 and given to Dyrham Park in 1961.
Marks and inscriptions
Penelope only daughter of William Blathwayt grandson of the secretary and wife of Jeremiah Crane obit 1823. Her only son assumed the name of Blathwayt and succeeded his uncle as first... and held the estate during the life of his uncle's brother (inscribed on reverse)
