Summary
Basin, earthenware, circular, open form with simple rim, no distinct well, J. Dimmock & Co, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, ca 1878-80 transfer printed in underglaze blue in the 'Madras' pattern, with two large birds perching on a willow tree above a scholar's rock to the left, two smaller birds in flight to the right, to the centre a second scholar's rock with two large peony flowers, branches of foliage to the right, at the rim a band of continual loops.
