Summary
Oil painting on canvas, The Reverend The Hon. Henry Cockayne Cust (1780-1861), British (English) School, circa 1830. A three-quarter-length portrait, in black dress, white cravat and seated at a table in an interior. He was Canon of Windsor and Rector of Cockayne Hatley, Bedfordshire. He was the second son of Sir Brownlow Cust, (1744-1807) 1st Baron Brownlow of Belton and Frances Bankes, Lady Brownlow (1756-1847). He married Lady Anna Maria Elizabeth Needham (d.1866), daughter of General Francis Needham, 12th Viscount and 1st Earl of Kilmorey (1748-1832) and Anne Fisher, on 20 June 1816. He graduated with a Master of Arts (MA) He took the name of Cockayne Cust when he inherited the Cockayne Hatley Estate. His son Henry Francis Cockayne Cust (1819-84) was the father of Adelbert Salusbury Cockayne Cust (1867-1927), 5th Baron Brownlow.
