Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Robert John Smith (later Carrington), 2nd Baron Carrington, FRS (1796-1868) by James Godsell Middleton (1805 – London 1874). A full-length portrait, right elbow leaning on foremost of a pair of plinths with columns above. Cane in left hand, dark red waistcoat with watchchain, high black cravat. Three rings, one on right hand, two on left. He defeated Disraeli when standing for Wycombe in 1832 - 35. He was later Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire. Heirloom.
