Summary
Oil painting on panel, The Crucifixion, Italian School, circa 1500. Christ on the cross in the centre; at its foot the Virgin, Magdalen and Saint John; background right, Christ in Limbo. Arms of a Dominican eremitical confraternity added at bottom: on a gold background, in descending order: A Tau-cross and Chalice, a spotted dog. Talbot arms added at bottom. .

Probably bought by the Lothians in Italy in the 1860s; bequeathed with the hall and contents by Philip,11th Marquess of Lothian (1882-1940)
