Summary
A walnut prieu-dieu chair, English, circa 1850. With an upholstered top rail and back with twist turned columns, the padded seat on twist turned legs tied by a conforming X stretcher, upholstered in Berlin woolwork needlework . Bearing the trade label for John Boulnois, Upholsterers etc, 14 Charlotte Street, Rathbone Place, London. John Boulnois established his business circa 1830 and two different labels are known. He was at 44 South Moulton Street, London 1831-39, moving to 14 Charlotte Street in 1840 where he remained until 1860.
