Oil painting on panel, Sir Thomas Coteel, Friesian School, 1590. A three-quarter length portrait of the father of the second wife of Sir Richard Edgcumbe MP (1563 - 1639), wearing black suit with lace ruff and cuffs, with a glove in his left hand; his coat of arms in the top left hand corner of panel.
Provenance
Left at the property when Cotehele was accepted in lieu of tax from Kenelm, 6th Earl of Mount Edgcumbe (1873–1965) and transferred to the National Trust in 1947; and amongst the contents accepted in lieu of estate duty by HM Treasury and transferred to the National Trust in 1974
