Summary
Embroidered quilt of heavy yellowing cotton which is splitting and darned in places. Embroidered with simple, widely spaced floral and foliar designs, including pomegranates, acorns, oak leaves and two unidentified flowers in shades of blue and faded yellows and pinks. Long and short, button hole, french knots, couching and stem stitch. Probably 17th century or maybe earlier. Side panels of different material and of later date. One panel has been lengthened with a piece of centre panel. Heavy, figured, discoloured cotton embroidered with tiny very regular blue chain stitch in outline of sea weed pattern. Also a separate piece of fabric of the same material.
