Summary
Oil painting on canvas (oval), A Member of the Gambier Family (possibly Harriett, later Mrs. Iremonger) by British (English) School, circa 1780/90. An oval, head-and-shoulders portrait of a lady wearing a fluffy grey wig with ringlets. She is turned towards the right and looks out beyond the spectator. She wears a white linen fichu over a puce-coloured dress. Behind her to the left is a blue coloured hanging and there is a yellow wall covering to the right. The portrait is painted in a naive style and the sitter is thought to be a member of the Gambier family, circa 1780, possibly an aunt of Georgiana, Lady Chatterton.
