Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Sir James Chatterton, 1st Bt.(c.1740 - 1806) by British (English) School, circa 1780/90. A young man, head and shoulders to left, wearing powdered hair, white stock and coat. Father-in-law to Georgiana, Lady Chatterton, later Mrs Dering. Son of Abraham Chatterton (d.1776) and Martha Roche. He married in 1790, Rebecca Lane, daughter of Abraham Lane. He was 2nd Serjeant-at-law and Keeper of State Papers in Ireland. His children were: 1.Anne Chatterton (d. 1835) 2.Martha Chatterton (d. 1857) 3.Rebecca Chatterton (d.1858 4.Sir William Abraham Chatterton, 2nd Baronet Chatterton (1794-1855) 5.General Sir James Charles Chatterton, 3rd Baronet Chatterton (1796-1872)
