Summary
An oak panelled chest, English, probably West Country, circa 1620-1640. The lid unusually with four panels arranged in a square, the front with a deep stop-fluted frieze above a pair of arcaded panels with rosettes to the upper corners and flanked by stiff-leaf carved uprights, standing on stile feet, the sides twin-panelled and with the same stop-fluted frieze, stamped with initials T I to one side.
