Charles II-style carved walnut elbow chair with red upholstery, mid-19th century. The frame is carved and turned, and the chair has traditionally upholstered seat, inner and outer back panels and arm pads. The top covers are of crimson figured velvet with cut and looped pile, and are of floral/foliate design. The velvet is of wool and silk yarns (pile), and may also incorporate some cellulosic yarns. The upholstered components are trimmed with crimson silk gimp/braid (width 15mm) which has been glued to secure.
