Ornately decorated Indian festival decoration, in three separate sections. The top section appears to be made of plant stems or rushes, fashioned into a round piece and bowed. They are covered in wine velvet with a painted gold circle and dot design. Suspended at either end is a bell-shaped pompom, and a disc, that also appear at the bottom. All three pompoms are present, the top being in green foil decorated with silver sequins, gold tinsel around the middle and a pink foil base, decorated with sequins. The elongated side sections are covered in pink foil strips with gold and silver beadwork, sequins and thread. In between are narrow green strips with pearls attached. Very delicate condition. Overall colours pink, gold and maroon.
Purchased from the estate of the late Lord Wraxall with the assistance of the NHMF and donations from members and supporters.
