Summary
Portrait miniature, oil painting on copper, A Man in a Ruff and Brown and Red Slashed Doublet, Dutch School, c.1595. Head and shoulders portrait of a young man finely painted. He has short thick fair hair, moustache and a small central beard. His eyes are blue and skin fair. He wears a white ruff over a brown and red slashed costume with a black drape over his near shoulder. His face is in full light, contrasted against a dark back-ground, whilst the back of his head is silhouetted against a light ground. Wrapped in paper inscribed in ink; 'Sir George Crewe Bart/Berners Hotel/Bernred(?) St.'.
