Summary
Oil painting on canvas laid down on board, Sir Henry ‘Harry’ Harpur, 6th Bt (1739-1789), British (English) School, 1740-1750. Painted oval. The gentlemen is shown half length, in a brown coat, red waistcoat and with a black tricorn hat. An inscription of the back reads, 'Sir Harry Harpur Bart.' (Inventory card) A letter of 1901 from Isabel Harpur Crewe to her great-aunt suggests that this is a portrait of Sir Harry Harpur, 6th Baronet (House Guide, last revised 1996).
