Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Queen Henrietta Maria (1609–1669), possibly Sir Peter Lely (Soest 1618 – London 1680), after Sir Anthony Van Dyck (Antwerp 1599 - London 1641). A full-length portrait of the wife of Charles I seated, in a blue dress. A variant of a standard Van Dyck design of which a number of versions are known. This picture may be a copy by Sir Peter Lely, 1618-1680, who came to England in the 1640's and is known to have copied Van Dyck. It is of too high a quality to be a school work.
