Summary
Oil painting on panel, An Unknown Man,aged 50 (previously called James I), English (or Frisian?) School, inscribed across top 'AETATIS. SUAE. 50 ANNO. DOMI.1613'. A three-quarter length portrait of a man, aged 50, wearing a black doublet and hose, with lace collar and cuffs, a silver sword hilt is in bottom right corner which he is partially leaning on with his left arm.
Provenance
Bequeathed to the National Trust by Edgar Graham Lister (1873 – 1956) with the house and collection of furniture in 1956.
