Summary
Oil painting on canvas, Charlotte Melosina Staples, Mrs William Lenox-Conyngham (1786-1847), British (English) School, circa 1820-30. A half-length, portrait, leaning to the right, head turned to the left, and gazing to the left, her right hand fingering a gold necklace, wearing a white high-waisted dress with a gold ribbon belt, under a blue ermine-lined coat, with large ermine reveals, she had dark brown hair, and wears a white lace turban with gold ribbon across the top of her forehead. A maroon drape to the right background and distant darkening horizon on the left.
Provenance
Purchased by National Trust in 1957 from William Lowry Lenox-Conyngham (1903–1957), shortly before his death, along with the other contents of Springhill
