Summary
Painting. An oil painting on canvas, a seated three-quarter-length portrait of Blanche Morgan, Mrs William Morgan (d. 1673), facing left and wearing a brown brocade dress with padded sleeves, in front of a red curtain, British (English) School, c1673. Her right elbow is resting on a draped piece of furniture, her right hand supporting her face, and in her left hand she holds three flowers. She is wearing a pearl necklace. The red curtain reveals a garden landscape behind. Her pose is very similar to a portrait of Maroe de Penancoet, Comtesse de Keroualle by Henri Gascars at Goodwood. Within an 18th century, water-gilded frame, with deeply carved foliage and bead and rail moulding near the site edge.
