Summary
Painting. An oil painting on canvas, a seated three-quarter-length portrait of Sir Charles Morgan Robinson Morgan, 1st Baron Tredegar (1792-1875), British School, 1840-50. He faces half-right and holds a letter in his left hand, his elbow resting on a table. Within a gilded Victorian frame with bead and rail moulding on the outer edge, decorative moulding on the flat and tongue and leaf moulding on the back edge.
Provenance
Bought from Mrs Yorke (John Morgan's widow) in 1974. Part of the collection on loan to the National Trust from Newport Museum and Galleries. In March 2012 the National Trust took over the management of Tredegar House with its contents and its 90 acres of gardens and parkland, from Newport City Council for a period of 50 years.
