Summary
Painting. An oil painting on canvas, Landscape with Figures, style of Gaspard Dughet (Rome 1615 – Rome 1675), c1674. Landscape with a small waterfall in the foreground on the left, a bridge with figures and building beyond. On the right, a woman, seated, is talking to a standing man with staff and dog. In the middle distance, two figures and distant hills beyond.
Provenance
In situ, over fireplace in the Red Room. Part of the collection on loan to the National Trust from Newport Museum and Galleries. In March 2012 the National Trust took over the management of Tredegar House with its contents and its 90 acres of gardens and parkland, from Newport City Council for a period of 50 years.
