Summary
Painting. An oil painting on canvas, of a three-quarter-length portrait of John Morgan (1669-1719), wearing a brown velvet coat, British (English) School, previously attributed to Sir Godfrey Kneller (Lübeck 1646/9 - London 1723), c1690/1700. Standing, against a landscape background the sitter has his left hand on his hip and the right holding his cravat.
Provenance
Part of the collection on loan to the National Trust from Newport Museum and Galleries. In March 2012 the National Trust took over the management of Tredegar House with its contents and its 90 acres of gardens and parkland, from Newport City Council for a period of 50 years.
